Tale of a Balloon

tht baloon....
It was flying here and there
aimlessly wandering and trying to break free from the tiny rubber band that holds it...
maybe it was trying to escape, not knowing that if the rubber is not tied to its neck, the air filled inside, which is its life breath, will be sweapt away, and it will be lifeless...
I have tied it to the hand grip of the car....
And when the speed was increasing, it was more restless...
Sometimes, it was coming close to ma face.
I tht it was trying to whisper something in my ear...
But why shuld I listen to it. I am its owner, infact da master.
I need not respond to its plea for freedom. I turned ma face away from it and pretended to talk to amma...
Uh!!!! was the wind slashy, or was it the momentum of the car, i dunno....
but it hit ma face with some considerable force....
Was that a slap... A slap on the master for not responding to the plea of freedom....
If so, I chose to ignore that too....
The master was thinking about the practical consequences if it was let free... Whats the use, it will only fly away to the unknown and on the way may be hit by some tree branch or some nasty bird and fall down to earth.....
And tat was defenitly not a good ending.
Moreover, I was impressed by its color and infact ive started liking it.
The moment i saw it at the vendor.....
Oh it was a splendid pink and blue combination. with tiny multi colored dots on it...
I was eyeing it from the very beginning.... but didnt know amma had her eyes on me too...
The effective result was, on the way back from the temple, i became the proud owner of the pink and blue combined beauty...
In between, we picked up ma brother from a bus stop. Oops, he was surprised by the new member in the car.. By that time, ive unleashed it from tha hand grip and it was resting on ma lap.
Brother was so amused by it that he starting hitting it .... Everyone knows how boys are... For them baloons and footballs makes no difference. I could feel its pain and agony...
But I was helpless. It didnt ask for help, neither tried to break free through the open window.
I chose to ignore again...
We reached our destination... Upon meetin relatives, i completly forgot about it....
While the luggages were unpacked, it was thrown somewhere to the back of the car...
That night while uttering ma prayers, i rememeberd abt it... Bt was so lazy to unlock the car and bring it to ma room.
Next day break.... We all had a splendid breakfast....
Mom and Dad were about to leave and suddenly its memories flashed ma mind...
I asked achan about it and with a smile, he went to fetch it.....
"Here is Gauri Kuttys" pyaara baloon....
I turned and opened ma hands wide to recieve it.....
Achan was holding it from the rubber band.
The heat inside the car might be the killer...It might have cried hard due to suffocation.
Oh my!!! it was hanging dead from that rubber band.
bursted from within..... the life breath drained out of it.....
The pink and blue beauty was a muticolored rubber piece now.....
It was so short lived...due to my ignorance or so, I dunno....
But it was gone, flying high high into the sky....and so as my dreams of it....
